Intermedia ASP, Video 02:00 min., Krakow 2020
Klombik is a work realised within the framework of the remote entrance examinations for the Bachelor's Degree in Intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. During the exams, I stayed in the Low Beskids, which had a significant influence on the shape of the final work. Numerous walks in the village of Bystra near Gorlice reminded me of my childhood, during which I visited my grandfather in the village of Buchcice near Tarnów with my family. The place for meetings and plays was the well, located near his house. I remembered how, during these trips, my mother, sister and I would collect stones, twigs and flowers, which we would then use to make various patterns in the shape of quasi-mandals on the lid of the well. We called this play, or more precisely its end result, the titular klombik. As part of an exam assignment to produce a two-minute video work, I decided to reconstruct a klombik on one of the randomly encountered wells in the village of Bystra. For the final realisation, I also included two photographs from my family album. In one of them, I was photographed in my grandfather's embrace, leaning against the aforementioned well; while the second photograph - presented below in the form of a collage - depicts a play around the well, where the klombik can be seen.
